I am sooooo happy today because I finally finished my eldest son’s blanket.

And now I am working on my youngest son’s blanket at full speed. Here is the progress I have achieved so far:

I have made such colour combinations  ; I cannot think of a way how to put them together in a nice way…

I have calculated that I will need approximately 90 squares to finish this blanket which is intended for his small bed in his grand-parents house. I have done 45 squares up till now so I am half way through.

Hope to be with you with another ta-dah! post soon.

Until then, goodbye.

another week-end at home

Posted in gardening, home at 4:25 pm by edascrochetroom

Last week-end  Little One was sick with high fever. I had sleepless nights. He is getting better now but we still keep him at home; he is happy that there is no school…. When he started to feel better ,we went out in the garden and I had a chance to take a few photos. Here is our home at number 24:

Last year we had pigeons chosing  our window-sill to build their nest on. This year we have them too and I have managed to photograph the baby pigeons

And not only these! we have other guests as well

Last week-end ,we had some showers as well so everything looks fresh

And we had harvest scenes like this

Ok. And I had very little time to crochet but I have a WIP

I hope you all have a very lovely week…

week-end out

Posted in family at 3:02 pm by edascrochetroom

Lately I am unable to find some time to crochet so, there is no crochet posts . Last couple of weeks have been work-home-work for me and I really got depressed. Luckily enough, my husband had to fly abroad for business which meant having a break for me. I took Little One to stay with grand-parents and my dad took us to a trip.

HE  took us to orange grooves where he kept his bees and while he was attending his bees ;

Grand-ma and the Little One picked some oranges

I have planted an orange tree in our backyard too and here how it looks like now

Later, my dad took us to a place where the Little One became so happy

because he could play with the ball

and he could swing

I hope you all have a very nice week!  See you soon!

Today the temperatures reached 30 degrees C so it is officially summer! Summer means flowers and the garden needs to be watered regularly. That was what I did this afternoon stealing an hour from work….

I took some pictures of my tiny garden; remember- the garden still needs to be fixed!

I hope you all have a lovely day!

Posted in sunburst granny square tutorial at 11:27 am by edascrochetroom

Today I have prepared a picture tutorial for Priscilla Hewitt’s Sunburst Granny Square .The written pattern can be found here:

priscillascrochet.net/free patterns/Afghan Squares/Sunburst Granny Square.pdf

Chain 5. Join with a sl st to form a ring.

Chain 3.

The chain 3 will count as the first dc , work 15 more dc in the ring;

join with a sl st.(16dc). Fasten off.

Attach next colour with a sl st to any dc,

puff st in the same st and in each dc around. Here is how to do the puff st:

Yarn over, insert hook in the st and pull up a long loop

yarn over

pull up another long loop from the same stitch

yarn over again(3 times in total)

yarn over and pull through all remaining 7 loops on hook, chain 1 to lock.

puff st in each dc around, join with a sl st to the first puff st.

fasten off.

Round 3: attach next colour with a sl st to any ch1 space of any puff st,ch2

Now we will be making cluster stitch in each ch1 space

yarn over , insert hook in the st and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops-4 times

yarn over and pull through all 5 remaining loops on hook

you make the cluster st ,ch2 in each chain1 space all around

join with a sl st to the beginning cluster st.

Round 4;

attach next colour with a sl st to any ch2 space

ch4to count as the 1st trc,2trc in the same sp

3dc in the next ch2 sp

3hdc in the next ch2 sp

3dc in the next ch2 sp

3trc,ch3,3trc in the next ch2 sp

continue this pattern-3dc,3hdc,3dc in the next ch2 spaces and 3trc,chain3,3trc in the next ch2 sp

3trc  as the same sp as beginning trc , ch3 ; join with a sl st to the top of the beginning ch4

this is how your square will look like

the following rounds 5-7 are worked as for a regular granny square.

Good-luck with your new project!

colour explosion

Posted in crochet at 6:34 am by edascrochetroom

For the last couple of weeks , I have been quietly working on two new blanket projects. The blankets will be for my boys.

Here is the blanket for my elder son:

The colours used are his choice and he wanted a manly blanket so I went for classical granny square. The yarn is 100% acrylic.

The second blanket is for my younger son. I wanted a summery blanket so I am using mercerized cotton.

The colours of this yarn are  so yummy! I love to work with this yarn.

The pattern is Priscilla Hewitt’s’ sunburst granny square’ pattern.

I hope to be with you with a ‘Ta-dah!’ post soon. Till then, take care….

Blanket Ta-dah!

Posted in crochet at 2:51 pm by edascrochetroom

I just checked my older  posts and realized that it took me almost 3 months to finish this blanket.

I was close to finishing for sooooo long, that I craved to see it finished but it didn’t.( I find very little time to crochet and now our working hours has changed ;I do not know when I will finish my elder son’s blanket I started few days earlier  this time.)

But first I have to apologize for the quality of the photos; I took them with my mobile; could’n wait to show you my latest work.

So,here it is: Ta-dah!

I did a simple picot edge to finish.

And the owner of the blanket with his blanket…

Today is a happy day!

I hope you all have a lovely day too…
